Rangers Support Show Racism the Red Card's Weekend of Action

Show Racism the Red Card 2026
RANGERS Football Club are proudly continuing their support for Show Racism the Red Card during our upcoming men’s match against Dundee this weekend, and our women’s match against Motherwell on Sunday, October 25.

The fixtures form part of the charity’s Weekend of Action, bringing Scottish football together to challenge racism and promote a welcoming and inclusive game for everyone.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Show Racism the Red Card uses the power of football to educate, challenge attitudes and create change.

The charity’s origins lie in an experience involving former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, who was racially abused by a group of young people at a petrol station. When they recognised him, the abuse stopped and they asked for his autograph, a moment which helped inspire the campaign.

Since then, its workshops in schools, football clubs, workplaces and communities have reached more than 1.5 million learners across the UK, including 250,000 in Scotland.

Men’s first team Manager Derek McInnes said: “Racism has no place in football or in society, and we are proud to support Show Racism the Red Card’s Weekend of Action.

“We all have a responsibility to set an example. Everyone involved in the game has a part to play in challenging racism and ensuring people feel welcome and respected. Football brings together people from different backgrounds, and that is one of its greatest strengths.”

Women’s head coach Leanne Crichton added: “Nobody should ever feel uncomfortable, excluded or judged because of the colour of their skin or where they come from.

“As coaches and players, we have a responsibility to set the right example, challenge discrimination and speak up when we see racism.

“Campaigns like Show Racism the Red Card are vital in raising awareness and educating people about racism. We must continue to have these conversations, challenge discrimination wherever we see it and make sure our actions reflect the values we stand for.”
