The victory saw Gers extend their unbeaten run to eight games in the league under Danny Röhl.
There were five changes from the last outing in the UEFA Europa League, as Dujon Sterling made his first start since April as he continues his return from injury, while Findlay Curtis was handed his first Scottish Premiership start of the season.
Youssef Chermiti came in in attack to replace the injured Bojan Miovski, while Mikey Moore also returned to the starting XI.
Jack Butland was in goal, with Max Aarons, Dujon Sterling, Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez and Jayden Meghoma lining-up in front of him.
Diomande joined Connor Barron in midfield tonight, with all change in attack as Mikey Moore and Findlay Curtis supported striker Youssef Chermiti.
It was Hibernian who got the action underway, and the visitors who had the first sight of goal with Elie Youan sending a shot just high of the target inside the opening two minutes. Shortly after, Youssef Chermiti forced a save from Raphael Sallinger at the other end, with the goalkeeper pushing the shot away for a corner.
Connor Barron whipped the set-piece into the box, and there was a big chance for Nasser Djiga as the defender rose highest to head the ball towards goal but it was just wide of the target.
Dujon Sterling denied Hibernian a goal with a superb goal line clearance with 29 minutes played. The ball was delivered into the back post from a corner, with O’Hora heading goalwards, beating goalkeeper Jack Butland. However, defender Sterling was alert to the danger as he got back to clear off the line.
Rangers responded with a chance of their own minutes later as Mikey Moore and Youssef Chermiti combined down the right, with the latter getting a right-footed strike away but it was wide.
With 10 minutes of the first-half remaining, Rangers had the breakthrough they needed and it was Emmanuel Fernandez with his third goal of the season. A corner provided the opening for Gers, with Hibs unable to clear the danger, the ball found its way to Sterling just outside the box. The Englishman sent a lovely cross into the area, with Fernandez still in an advanced position, the defender got the perfect connection to send it beyond Sallinger and give Röhl’s men the advantage.
With a fairly even start to the second-half, there was a double change for Rangers as Dujon Sterling and Max Aarons were replaced by James Tavernier and Clinton Nsiala, who was making his first appearance this season.
Further changes followed as Djeidi Gassama and Thelo Aasgaard came on to replace Mikey Moore and Findlay Curtis.
Hibernian were still searching for a route back into this game as Josh Mulligan drilled a low shot towards the target but it was gathered comfortably by Jack Butland.
Nico Raskin was next to be introduced for Rangers as the final change of the match as Connor Barron left the field.
Rangers thought they had the second of the evening as Djeidi Gassama was played through by Mohamed Diomande, and it was a fine finish from the winger but he had strayed just offside as he received the ball.
Raphael Sallinger denied Youssef Chermiti as he got a strong hand to block a strike from the Portuguese forward after James Tavernier picked him out inside the box.
From the resulting corner, a one-two with Tavernier and Gassama, saw the captain release a low effort through a raft of bodies towards the target but it was blocked again by the visiting goalkeeper.
Rangers were hungry for the second goal as the game entered injury time, with Sallinger this time blocking a Diomande shot.
The next goal didn’t come for Gers, but Fernandez’s first half header was enough to secure the points, with attention now turning to Sunday’s trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts.
