Bojan Miovski netted a double before Mikey Moore came off the bench in the second-half to seal the victory and the three points at Rugby Park.

There were two changes from the midweek trip to Tannadice as Max Aarons started ahead of captain James Tavernier who had been ill this week and was named on the bench, while Mohamed Diomande came in for Danilo.

Jack Butland, who wore the captain’s armband this evening, lined-up in goal behind a back four of Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Emmanuel Fernandez and Jayden Meghoma.

Diomande joined Connor Barron and Nico Raskin in midfield, while it was the same attacking line as midweek with Bojan Miovski, Nedim Bajrami and Djeidi Gassama completing the eleven.

A free-kick opened up the first opportunity for Rangers with 7 minutes played at Rugby Park. The ball was whipped into the box by Connor Barron and Bojan Miovski got a good connection to head towards goal but Killie goalkeeper Oluwatobiloba Oluwayemi gathered.

The home side threatened too in the opening stages, with Marcus Dackers heading just over from a Scott Tiffoney delivery.

With 18 minutes played Kilmarnock had a huge chance to break the deadlock. With Emmanuel Fernandez down in the box following a collision at a Rangers corner, the home side broke and Bruce Anderson raced through on goal. The striker lifted the ball over Jack Butland, but Connor Barron had made a crucial run back and did enough to clear off the line.

Röhl, who was already missing a number of players through injury, was forced into a change midway through the first-half as Nedim Bajrami went down with what appeared to be a hamstring issue, and was replaced by Findlay Curtis.

With 33 minutes played, it was Rangers who had the lead and Bojan Miovski with his third goal of the season. Gers were putting pressure on the Kilmarnock goal in the build-up with a series of passes around the box before it made its way into the area with Mohamed Diomande. The midfielder did well to hold the ball up under pressure in the box and fed it into the path of the striker.

It was a lovely finish from Miovski as he released a powerful shot towards goal which made its way through a crowded box and snuck in beyond Oluwayemi at his left-hand post.

Rangers doubled their lead early in the second-half and it was a double for Bojan Miovski. Nico Raskin drove forward and found the striker inside the box and he took a touch and was clinical with another low finish as he took his plaudits celebrating in front of the away supporters.

Jack Butland pulled off a brilliant save as Kilmarnock searched for a route back into this match as he denied Bruce Anderson, before minutes later getting a strong save on a Robbie Deas header.

With 20 minutes remaining in Ayrshire, Danilo came on to add to Rangers’ attack in place of Danilo.

Kilmarnock manager Stuart Kettlewell was shown a red card for his protests on the touchline as referee Kevin Clancy sent the coach to the stand for the remainder of this fixture.

Further changes followed for Rangers as James Tavernier, Mikey Moore and Youssef Chermiti came on to replace Djeidi Gassama, Findlay Curtis and goalscorer Bojan Miovski.

Moore, who was on his return from injury, had an instant impact as he netted the third goal of the evening. It was a fantastic solo effort from the teenager as Jayden Meghoma played the ball to the on-loan Spurs winger and he turned away from Lewis Mayo before sending a right-footed finish into the back of the net.

The youngster had the ball in the net for the second time of just minutes later as he finished from a tight angle to complete another nice attacking move from Rangers but he was denied for a foul in the build-up.

Rangers’ attention now turns the UEFA Europa League action and a trip to Budapest to face Ferencvaros on Thursday.
