First-half goals from Belgian star Nicolas Raskin and the in-form Mikey Moore – his first for the club – put the visitors in a strong position at the half-time interval and with the full support from the travelling Bears, who were terrific throughout the 90 minutes, the Light Blues were able to secure three valuable league points, with Djeidi Gassama adding a third goal before the full-time whistle with a moment of magic.

Röhl made four changes to his starting eleven after the Light Blues faced Roma on matchday four of the UEFA Europa League’s league phase on Thursday night at Ibrox – the head coach naming Derek Cornelius, Mohamed Diomande, Danilo and Bojan Miovski back in his team to take on Steven Pressley’s side, with Nasser Djiga, Max Aarons, Connor Barron and Youssef Chermiti on the nine-man bench for kick-off.

Dundee started the match positively and, just two minutes in, Tony Yogane produced a powerful run before being brought down by Diomande 25 yards from goal. Ethan Hamilton took the free-kick that followed and his soaring effort looked to be going into the postage-stamp corner but Jack Butland produced a fine save to deny the midfielder.

Rangers, wearing their orange fourth kit for the first time - with a poppy emblem positioned prominently in the centre of the jerseys to show support for Remembrance and the Armed Forces community – immediately pushed forward and with nine minutes on the clock they opened the scoring through Raskin.

James Tavernier’s teasing corner-kick was perfect for the unmarked 24-year-old who glanced an accurate header beyond Dundee’s number one Jon McCracken.

The early breakthrough was just what the visitors needed and, with confidence high, they went in search of a second goal – and on 14 minutes they got it in some style.

Moore picked the ball up in a dangerous position and from 20 yards his low, right-foot finish was from the top drawer – with McCracken diving to his right but unable to get his hand near the ball such was the power on the shot.

It was a terrific moment for the 18-year-old, who celebrated his first Rangers goal – and the second of his senior career – with his teammates, who were clearly thrilled for the talented youngster who is currently on loan from Spurs.

The away support were enjoying what they were witnessing as they sang in support of Röhl and the Rangers players, who were producing an assured away display at what can be a tricky away venue.

After the half-hour mark things almost got even better when Moore again had the ball in the net, the winger reacting quickly to send a left-foot shot in at McCracken’s near post but referee Matthew MacDermid – after checking his VAR screen – spotted Diomande in an offside position from Danilo’s initial low shot, with the ball going through the Ivorian’s legs before it was saved.

Röhl made three changes to his team at the break, with Connor Barron, Thelo Aasgaard and Youssef Chermiti replacing Diomande, Danilo and Bojan Miovski for the start of the second half.

And it was Norwegian playmaker Aasgaard who was first up to test McCracken when his right-foot shot from distance dipped and curled towards the bottom corner but Dundee’s goalie got down well to make an excellent stop.

For Rangers, it was a case of staying switched on and, importantly, not allowing Steven Pressley’s men a way back into the game.

With 67 minutes played, substitute Simon Murray got into a good position in the box and Butland had to be sharp to make a comfortable save from the experienced forward.

The big Englishman would then have been relieved that a stinging drive from Hamilton from 25 yards out was straight at him as the Light Blues looked to maintain their two-goal advantage.

Rangers, however, continued to show flashes of quality. On 76 minutes, Oliver Antman crossed into a packed box and again it was Raskin who rose the highest, with his header on target but McCracken was up to the task, making yet another athletic save.

Before the final whistle, Gassama added the third goal the Rangers fans were waiting for. The Gers number 23 cut in from the left and with his right foot, he curled a quite brilliant shot inside

McCracken’s far post to complete a terrific result before the November international break.
