There were five different scorers too – Ryan Kent, Fil Helander, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Connor Goldson all netted in what was a superb performance full of energy from start to finish.
For what was Steven Gerrard’s 150th game in charge of the Light Blues, Filip Helander came in for Leon Balogun in defence.
That meant Allan McGregor was in goal, with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Helander and Borna Barisic in front of him.
Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo were in midfield, with Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi supporting Alfredo Morelos in attack.
After taking total control of the ball in the early stages, it took Rangers just six minutes to break the deadlock.
From deep, James Tavernier sent a ball into the area which was superbly won at the back post by Alfredo Morelos. He nodded it back across goal, and coming onto the ball to loop a header into the top corner was Ryan Kent – his seventh goal of the season.
It was just the start Gers were looking for – and the broad smile across Kent’s face told you what it meant to him.
James Tavernier sent a free-kick from distance just over as the home side went looking for a second, and on 13 minutes, they were awarded a penalty.
Pressing high, Alfredo Morelos won the ball back from Callum Morris high up the park and charged into the area. As he did so, however, Morris clipped him, leaving referee Euan Anderson no option other than to point to the spot.
Tavernier took the penalty, but goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw dived low to his right to turn the skipper’s effort away.
The chase for number two didn’t let-up with that setback, though. Tavernier laid one off for a super Kent strike from 20-yards which cannoned back off the post, while Helander, who had stayed forward from an earlier set-piece, sent a header just over on the end of a Tavernier cross.
The second goal did arrive, however, on 28 minutes through a stunning header from Fil Helander. Borna Barisic’s ball in from a corner was excellent, and the Swedish international arrived on the end of it to find the bottom corner to hand Gerrard’s men a thoroughly merited cushion.
Goal number three followed nine minutes later – and this was the pick of the bunch so far!
Picking up wide on the right, Joe Aribo skinned Charlie Lakin, jinked inside Connor Randall and from the edge of the penalty area, curled one into the top corner out of Laidlaw’s reach.
It truly was a stunning piece of play from the Nigerian internationalist – with that being his fifth of the season.
Ianis Hagi was a whisker away from number four on 44 minutes, checking inside to drive one just over from 25-yards, before seconds later, sublime control from Kent put in his fellow attacker only for Morris to put in a last-ditch block to deny him.
It was County who had the first opportunity of the second half – Harry Paton striking one off Allan McGregor’s post from 25-yards to send a warning they weren’t done yet.
Morelos spun Alex Iacovitti inside the area to get a wicked shot away which stung Laidlaw’s palms, while the goalkeeper clutched a Kent header the winger got away on the run from a super Steven Davis ball.
County struck the woodwork again on 53 minutes through a Iacovitti header, while Morelos saw a strike go just wide from the edge of the area at the other end.
Laidlaw saved well from a clever Aribo front-post flick on a Tavernier ball before Steven Gerrard took the opportunity to make four substitutions just beyond the hour mark.
Ryan Jack made his return from injury alongside Bongani Zungu, Jermain Defoe and Cedric Itten, replacing Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos.
And Jack marked his return with goal number four on 66 minutes. He started the move, playing a short one to the edge of the area for Itten. The Swiss international played a lovely ball round the corner for Ianis Hagi to cut a fine ball back across goal for Jack to finish first time with his left foot.
And in doing so, Jack became the 16th Rangers player to net this season in the league, following on from Helander being the 15th earlier in the day.
Jack’s first of the season was very nearly followed by his second – Laidlaw making a fine stop on a curling effort of his from the edge of the ‘D’ before goal number five did arrive on 81 minutes.
Yet again, Borna Barisic’s corner delivery was superb, and meeting it this time was Connor Goldson – his header kissing the inside of the post on its way in.
5-0 is how it finished then, with Hibs next up for Gers on Wednesday night.
