After signing a pre-contract the January before, John Souttar moved to Rangers from Hearts in the summer of 2022 on a four-year contract.

Souttar became a regular at Tynecastle, and his continued good form saw him become a regular fixture for Scotland at international level.

Injury hampered Souttar’s first season at Ibrox, with eight months on the sidelines, but he returned to become a regular member of the side in defence.

He has captained the side on occasion, and he also represented Scotland at the FIFA World Cup in 2026.
