Academy Sign Tony Weston

RANGERS are delighted to announce the signing of Tony Weston from Blackpool FC for an undisclosed fee.

Englishman, Weston, 16, joins the Light Blues’ Academy, subject to FIFA approval. The former Blackpool ‘Academy Player of the Year’ will head north of the border on a three-year contract.

Weston scored 14 goals for Blackpool’s youth team at the start of last season before being promoted to the first team. He has been named in Blackpool’s EFL Trophy squad as well as coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup.

Craig Mullholland, Head of Academy, commented: “We are really pleased that Tony will join Rangers when international clearance is received.

“Given the high level of interest from several clubs, it is further testimony to the development programme we can now offer, that Tony has chosen Rangers. Successful cross border player trading is important at all levels of the club and our recruitment team are doing a terrific job in identifying and securing talent.
