Rangers and Orange County SC Announce Football Camp In California

RANGERS and Orange County Soccer Club Expand World-Class Partnership with First-of-its-Kind Week-Long Camp in Irvine, California.

Rangers and Orange County SC will jointly host their first youth clinic this summer as part of an expanded range of partnership activities.

As part of their multi-year commitment to cultivating world-class professional football talent, Rangers and Orange County SC today announced a football camp in Orange County that builds on the foundational component of their youth development programme.

The partnership, founded in 2019, has led to several exciting programmes, commercial activities and player movements between the two clubs. The four-day intensive football camp for recreational and competitive players in Orange County begins July 19th at the Great Park in Irvine, California.

This camp opportunity is the first-of-its-kind as members of the Rangers and Orange County SC technical staff worked together to develop a curriculum for the camp. The camp will feature comprehensive programming and reports to measure individual player growth and more. Additionally, top performers in the camp will be provided a scouting report developed by the Rangers technical football staff.

“Our relationship with Rangers, but also the whole ethos of our club, is about creating a winning culture and a pathway to pro, said Oliver Wyss, President of Soccer Operation of Orange County SC.

“And the launch of this camp, where talented young boys and girls from across Southern California have a chance to put themselves in front of staff from a top European club, is the embodiment of that.

“Nothing sends a stronger message about the opportunities we are creating than knowing that a top male and female prospect will be invited to Ibrox to train.

I am delighted that our partnership with Rangers is moving forward yet another step with the launch of this camp - which will be the first of many.

Gary Gibson, Head of Soccer Academies & International Relations says: “The partnership with Orange County Soccer Club and Rangers FC has been founded on both club’s passion and drive for player development and the announcement of this camp provides a fantastic showcase to that commitment.

"Rangers Soccer Academy has a proven track record of providing young players with an opportunity to train and play under the guidance of the club’s renowned football methodology and player pathway. Leon King’s first steps on the road to being a part of the team which lifted 55 began as a five year-old at a Rangers Soccer Academy Camp, in collaboration with Orange County SC we are now providing young male and female players from across Southern California that same opportunity.

This is a fantastic next step for the partnership and I’m delighted to launch this camp, which is set to be a memorable experience for all young players.”

Additionally, Orange County Soccer Club and Rangers will host a separate Elite ID Camp on Friday, July 23rd to help both clubs identify future talent. This innovative session will allow players visibility into the “Pathway to Pro” model that has produced numerous professional Orange County football players. Local products like Aaron Cervantes, Francis Jacobs and others have seen camps like these help launch their careers professionally, both domestically and in Europe.

The camp itself will run all-day beginning July 19th for four days and will culminate with an Orange County Soccer Club match included as part of the camp on Saturday, July 24th against Sacramento Republic FC. The first 100 camp sign-ups will be entered into a raffle to win a signed Rangers FC shirt.

Additionally, all camp registrants will receive a co-branded t-shirt and a match ticket to the game vs Sacramento. Registrants can sign up for either camps at orangecountysoccer.com/camps and can purchase tickets for the Rangers FC Night at Championship Soccer Stadium on July 24th at orangecountysoccer.com/tickets.
