FOLLOWING the announcement that Rangers will welcome Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Ibrox on Saturday July 17 to participate in a prestigious friendly to commemorate our 150th anniversary, the club is today pleased to unveil a number of additional matches and activities that will prepare the champions for UEFA Champions League qualifiers and competitive domestic action.
Steven Gerrard’s side returned to training today where they will put in the hard yards before opening up their pre-season campaign at Partick Thistle at Firhill on Monday, July 5 at 7pm.
Rangers are also pleased to announce an away fixture against League Two Tranmere Rovers which will take place at 12pm on July 10. Managed by former Dundee United manager Mickey Mellon, the Merseyside club will provide a good test for the Light Blues.
Arsenal are next up on July 17 at 2pm, before Gers head back across the border on July 21 to Bloomfield Road to face newly-promoted Championship side Blackpool at 7pm.
We have agreed further plans for the final weekend of pre-season. Information will follow later this week.
Supporters, as always, are the heart of Rangers Football Club and welcoming our fans back safely to watch the team play is our top priority. We are optimistic of being able to invite supporters back to Ibrox this summer and are in close dialogue with the relevant authorities to discuss ways in which fans can safely return to Ibrox and any away fixtures.
We hope to be able to publish further information in the near future but until that time, we strongly advise supporters not to make any travel plans or commitments related to our summer fixtures.
Subject to the return of fans, we are also pleased to announce a first-team open training session at Ibrox on July 28 that will be exclusive to 2021/22 season MyGers Members.
An open training session has been one of our most-requested membership experiences and subject to COVID-19 regulations, we are thrilled to offer this experience which will be perfect for the whole family to experience how Steven Gerrard prepares the champions in training sessions.
