RANGERS can today confirm Colin Crichton has been appointed as the new Assistant Head Coach of the women’s first-team.
Brother of Head Coach Leanne, he makes the switch to the Light Blues permanently, having joined in a coaching role until the end of the season back in March, as he replaces the now departed Andy Thomson, who joined Hearts earlier this summer.
He brings a wealth of experience of the game in the nation, having worked at fellow SPWPL club Motherwell in the same role in recent seasons, and he will be in the dugout for the UEFA Women’s Champions League opener against SK Slavia Praha this Wednesday evening.
Speaking after joining the club, he said: “Firstly, I’m incredibly proud to continue my journey with Rangers, now as Assistant Head Coach.
“Having joined the club before the split last season, I've already experienced first-hand the ambition, professionalism and standards that exist throughout the club. As a lifelong Rangers supporter, it’s an honour to be able to dedicate myself to the club.
“I’m also delighted to continue working alongside Leanne. We’ve built a really positive working relationship over the years, and I’m looking forward to supporting her even more closely as we continue to develop the team and drive standards every day.
“There’s an exciting group of players here, complemented by some excellent additions this summer. We will continue to build an elite, high-performance environment that challenges the players every day to improve, providing the best opportunity for success.
“The expectations at Rangers are clear. We want to win trophies. I’m excited to play my part in helping the club achieve success this season.”
Women’s Head Coach, Leanne Crichton, added: “I’m delighted that Colin has now been appointed to a full-time role within our coaching staff.
“Having worked with him before, I knew exactly what he'd bring when he joined us in March, and he's already shown the positive impact he can have within our environment.
“He's a born winner who demands high standards of himself and everyone around him. He's made huge sacrifices to commit to this role, and that tells you everything about how much he believes in this team and what we're trying to achieve.
