Rangers Confirm Signing Of Olivia McLoughlin

RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Olivia McLoughlin from Aston Villa on a two-year deal, upon the expiry of her contract with the English side.

The 19-year-old, who spent the second half of the last campaign on loan, has committed her future to the Light Blues after a successful spell in Glasgow.

The midfielder excelled in Jo Potter’s side, making 20 appearances in total as she helped the club to both Sky Sports and Scottish Cup successes as they claimed a domestic cup double.

McLoughlin netted in the 4-1 Sky Sports Cup final win over Partick Thistle in her first professional final and was named player of the match for her performance in the Old Firm derby fixture played at Ibrox.

Her displays made her a fans’ favourite and she will join Scotland international defender Leah Eddie in linking up with Potter’s team when they return for pre-season training later this month as they prepare for action on both domestic and European fronts.

Speaking after agreeing a deal to stay at the club, McLoughlin said: “I’m really excited, I think the next few years are massive for me and to be joining a club like Rangers, I can’t wait to get going.

“Coming on loan here and enjoying it so much and playing and being a big part of the team, that has really helped my decision to stay.

“The factors of being so far away from home was playing on my mind, but when you are surrounded by good people in the team it makes it easier.

“I think winning silverware is massive for me and the team, hopefully we can go on to win more next season.”

Women’s head coach, Jo Potter added: “Liv was someone who has already shown the Rangers fans her quality on the park and one we were determined to keep hold of.

“I am delighted she has bought into everything we are trying to achieve and she wants to be part of that journey.

“Liv is someone who fitted seamlessly into the squad and we believe she will only get stronger as she matures and develops.

“We are thrilled Liv sees her future with Rangers and she is someone I feel will be a huge asset to the squad moving forward.”

Women’s and Girls Managing Director, Donald Gillies also said: “We are delighted that Liv has committed her future to Rangers.

“You can see in every minute she’s on the field the passion and quality she brings to the team.

“She settled incredibly quickly in her loan spell, but what is so impressive about Liv, in my opinion, is the incredible commitment and ambition to continue developing as a player and lift others around her which we are excited to see in coming years.”
