Rangers Sign Leah Eddie From Hibernian

RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Leah Eddie from Hibernian on a two-year deal, upon the expiry of her contract with the Edinburgh side.

The defender, who was named the Player of the Year with the capital club in the most recent campaign, becomes head coach Jo Potter’s first new signing of the summer transfer window ahead of her second season in charge.

The 23-year-old had an initial spell at the Gers back in 2018 before five years with Hibs. Making over 30 appearances in the last campaign with her side securing a top-six finish in the SWPL table.

The centre-back has also represented Scotland at senior level, making her debut for the national team back in 2021 in a match against Northern Ireland.

She has been involved in camps during the last campaign, as she was part of the squad that competed in the 2024 Pinatar Cup before being rewarded for her season’s form with a second successive call-up for the start of their UEFA European Championship qualifiers last month, but had to pull out of the squad due to injury.

Eddie is currently away representing her country at Under-23 level in the break as she captained the side in yesterday’s friendly against Denmark with the two teams meeting once again on Sunday morning.

She will now prepare to join up with the Light Blues squad for the beginning of pre-season as they look for another successful campaign competing on both European and domestic fronts.

Speaking after signing for Rangers, Eddie said: “I am really excited to be joining Rangers.

“When I had met Jo and Donald Gillies, I was shown around the facility, seeing where the girls do their job and their pitch sessions and stuff like that, was something I was really impressed with.

“Just their ambitions and what they want to achieve next season.

“It is something that I would love to be a part of and hopefully I can add to what they have already got.”

Women’s head coach Jo Potter added: “I am thrilled to secure the services of Leah ahead of next season.

“She enjoyed a superb campaign with Hibernian and showed the qualities I am looking for in a Rangers defender.

“She is only 23 and is approaching the best years of her career so it was a simple decision to bring her here.

“We believe we can make her even better for club and country and look forward to her strengthening our defensive options as we look to bring more success to the club.”

Women’s and Girls Manager Director Donald Gillies also said: “I am delighted, I think as a player that has been a high performer for a number of years at such a young age securing her at Rangers is a massive boost to the club.

“I think it shows our ambition of what we want to achieve in the short and longer term at the club to have secured such a talented player.”
