MALKY Thomson praised his Rangers team after they defeated Hearts 6-0 at the Training Centre this afternoon to pick up another important three points in Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1.
Goals from Megan Bell, Ciara Grant, Kirsty Howat, Brogan Hay and Lizzie Arnot helped the Gers to a dominant victory against Hearts and Thomson was delighted with the positivity amongst the squad.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV after picking up three points in the league, he said: “I’m really delighted with everything about the squad just now, I think today’s performance just shows how far they’ve come. It’s really kicked on.
“I think that the big factor is being able to have a fit squad throughout the campaign and we’ve managed to do that, that’s credit to the players, medical staff and the club as a whole who are around the team. I’m really pleased with the amount of positivity that was in the squad prior to the game, the way that they are going about it is nothing short of being professional.
“We’ve been analysing the start of the campaign where we were getting early goals, I think that it’s there for all to see for when we do get an early goal it really puts a relaxed state amongst the players, and it just got stronger and stronger. Even as the game went on, we utilised the players on the bench, and you could see the strength that came on.”
Thomson added his delight for some individual players returning from injury and the resilience shown to make a positive impact on the squad.
He continued: “I think that it’s players such as Megan Bell who has been a long time out and missed a lot of football, to come back at the stage she has into a strong squad – she’s got better and better and she’s back to the Megan Bell that we’ve come to know.
“Kirsten Reilly coming back in having been out a long time is also really pleasing. The girls that came on and replaced them really drove the thing further.”
