Ahead of Sunday’s B Team match against Edinburgh University, a foodbank collection was arranged in aid of West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare, before the B team and under-18’s were out in the Milngavie area to do some litter picking on Monday.
The activities were arranged by Academy Administrator Louise McLean, she said: “In the past the players and staff have been asked to decorate the Christmas trees on the wards at the Royal Hospital for Children but that hasn’t been possible for the last two years.
“So, along with a Christmas Jumper Day where the players and staff raised £850 for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity via our own Rangers Charity Foundation, these events were organised to allow the players the opportunity to give something back to the communities that surround us.
B Team head coach David McCallum added: “It is always important we produce good people as well as good players within the Academy and events like these are important for the young players.
“It is vital they remain humble and that we are able to genuinely give something back to the local community.
Academy coach Cameron Campbell added: “The litter picking allows us to get out into the community while helping to create good rapport and teamwork among the group.
“It was great to see the players out in the community and we believe taking part in such activities will help keep them focussed and down to earth as they progress in their football career.”
