Having been first involved with the club over 25 years ago now, next season will see McGregor appear for the 13th campaign in his Rangers career.
It’s a remarkable record – and he made clear the special bond he has with the club when he spoke to RangersTV this morning.
He said: "It's maybe because I was here from such a young age. You get to love the place and you feel like it is your home.
"You know everybody that works here - not that I didn't at other places - but I just feel like it is my home and there is no other way to describe it."
By winning 55 last month, Rangers now have the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2010.
McGregor played his part in that tournament in 2007, 2009 and 2010, and he would just love Gers to get through qualifying and join Europe’s elite tournament again.
He said: "To try and play in the Champions League again would be great - and as people bring up, especially at my age.
"It would be great for the club and put us right back on the map in Europe. It will be difficult - don't get me wrong but the chance is there for us."
Short-term, Rangers are determined to finish the league season as strongly as they possibly can and also go deep into the Scottish Cup.
The need to continue to perform is clear for McGregor who added: "It always is and I say it all the time. At this club, you need to win every game regardless if there is 'nothing to play for' or whatever - every time you go out on that pitch, you want to win.
"Even in training, you want to win the wee games. It's anything in life - if you play golf, you want to win.
"At this club, it's no different and it is every single game."
