The young Gers are 90 minutes away from a potential last four showdown with East Kilbride, although they are set to be thoroughly examined by an experienced Spiders outfit who sit a point off the play-off spots in the second tier.
Rangers B reached the semi-finals of the competition back in 2020, and Stevens says a new generation of players are keen to continue their impressive run in the cup.
Speaking to RangersTV to preview this evening’s clash at The city Stadium, the 18-year-old said: “It’s another step up, but we definitely have players in our team who can play at that level. We need to go and show ourselves.
“It’s better to play against better teams; we’re excited for it and I think we can go and put a good performance in.
“We reached the semi-finals a few years ago, so it’s something we want to replicate and do better than.
“It’s been a good run so far; we’ve been happy with how we’ve done and we want to push on.
“We’ve played some good teams and, overall, we’ve played well as a team.
“Queen’s Park will be the highest level of opposition that we’ve played so far, so it’ll be a good test. We can make it a good game with the way we’ve been playing.”
The Light Blues have built up a head of steam in the competition and recorded an impressive performance and 4-1 triumph over Stenhousemuir of League One in the previous round.
They also count Clyde among the list of vanquished opposition this term, with the team rallying from a goal down at New Douglas Park in August.
Stevens, who netted in the triumph over Bo’ness United in the opening round, believes occasions such as this evening are the perfect platform to make an impression on the first-team coaching staff.
He added: “We’ve played some good teams and, overall, we’ve played well as a team.
“Queen’s Park will be the highest level of opposition that we’ve played so far, so it’ll be a good test. We can make it a good game with the way we’ve been playing.
“We’ve punished teams in the end. There’s been some games where we’ve started slowly but we’ve regrouped well.
“We’ve picked up some good results so hopefully that continues.
“There are different styles of play within the various leagues. Some teams have a lot more quality than others, but they all have different game plans.
“Queen’s Park will bring a different aspect, so we need to be ready for that. It’s good to play against different teams.
“The games are a lot more rougher and physical because they are more experienced players.
“You also need to be careful about set-pieces where they often try and hurt you, whereas it can be a more open game in academy fixtures.
“We want to start knocking on the first-team door given the age that we’re at. These games are a big opportunity to show yourself.”
