The midfielder thought the Light Blues showed ‘style and class’ as they booked their place in the last 16 of the competition for the third consecutive season.
Speaking at full-time, he said: “It was a fantastic night, I think everyone associated with the club wanted this outcome when the draw was made and I think we have done it with style and class to score six goals against a team of that calibre.
“We fully deserved to go through and we are all ecstatic with that result but we have a big game on Sunday and we look forward to the draw tomorrow.
“Everybody knows that we can play football and once you play against these teams they kind of let you play because they are football teams as well so it is a shoot-out to see who is the best at playing in their rhythm.
“We had to stay structured at times, you have to stay compact and take your chances when you get them but it was a fantastic night.”
Arfield was delighted to have the backing of a sold-out Ibrox, he continued: “It was sensational, when this draw was made you are looking forward to playing against Dortmund in that stadium it is world renowned but likewise when they come here they would like to play in that.
“We are glad that we got our fans in here, we are sad we never got them all over there Germany but we certainly made up for it tonight.”
Focus for the squad now turns to Sunday’s Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell. Arfield added: “It is always the same, you enjoy these wins tonight, you reflect on it tomorrow and then Saturday it is absolutely gone and you go again.
“It is a massive game on Sunday because this is what we want to do, we want to be celebrating big nights like this again so full focus goes onto Sunday.”
