Arnot: We Can Push On Now

LIZZIE ARNOT feels Rangers are in a good place ahead of the start of the SWPL season next Sunday.

The forward scored twice in the Gers final pre-season friendly against Spartans this afternoon, and believes the minutes have been key to help the squad build relationships on the pitch.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, she said: "I think there were parts of the game that were good and parts that we think we can improve on but that's what pre-season is all about.

"We are still gelling as a team so it is just about building on the good things and improving the things we want to get better at for next week.

"It is nice to contribute to the goals as a forward player and in pre-season you want to try and get off the mark but that is out the window now and it is about doing it in the league games that matter.

"It is obviously important that we get good relationships on the pitch and day in day out at training but when it comes to a Sunday that's the most important part."

Now the 24-year-old, who joined Rangers from Manchester United in the summer, cant wait to get back into league action.

She continued: "It been a long time coming, I think we are in a really good position physically.

"We have had a long time through lockdown but then pre-season has been about getting that sharpness and game fitness.

"I think we are all in a really good position so I think credit to everyone for keeping themselves fit throughout lockdown so we just hope we can push on now.

"I can't wait it has been such a long time, to be at home first game is great, obviously it is a shame that we won't be able to have any support but the pitch is looking great and I can't wait."
