ASSIST king Borna Barisic turned goalscorer tonight – with his super first-half strike the difference between Rangers and St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup.
The Croatian internationalist’s hit was his first in almost two years – and it was a beauty as he rifled the ball past Remi Matthews first time as the interval approached.
Gers are now through to round five of the tournament as they aim to defend their trophy, with Barisic revealing just how big an impact new manager Michael Beale is making.
The Englishman unbeaten now in all nine matches he’s played, with eight of them being victories, and indeed, all six matches played away from Ibrox have been wins.
Barisic reflected first of all on his goal, and said: "I enjoyed it of course, and I enjoyed it because we won the game! That is the first thing but when you score the goal, and such a nice goal, then I am very happy.
"I am really enjoying working under the manager - he is very good for me. I like his style, I like his mentality and I know what he wants.
"Step by step, day by day, we are getting better. Not only on the pitch, but outside the pitch at training and we show that on the pitch.
"Of course there are always areas that you can do better, but we are only moving in a good way and we are in a very good way."
Barisic also took time to praise the Rangers support for their incredible loyalty in the last week.
At Hampden, at Rugby Park and then tonight in Perth, Gers have been watched by over 45,000 of their fans – and that is greatly appreciated by all at the club.
Barisic added: "The supporters are always on the top level, and the stadium was full of our fans and they helped us a lot.
"We have repaid them this week with three wins on pitches that were not easy - all three were hard but we delivered and we are going forward."
