Gers continue their Group A campaign at Anfield in the first competitive meeting between the two sides and left-back is excited at the prospect of competing at the ‘highest level of European football’.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of the match, Barisic said: “We know we are facing a top team and a very good opponent with a lot of qualities but we have our qualities also - we want to give them a hard match.
“We want to play, we want to try and score goals and in the end we want to win the game. We will see what will happen but we didn't come here just to defend for sure.
“Everything will be important in this game because this is the highest level in Europe so we need to have everything and we will see what is going to happen.”
The Croatian believes Rangers are back where they belong and hopes the squad can use their experience to their advantage at Anfield.
He continued: “It is a dream, when you hear that song it is a dream come true so I think all players live for this moment so we are very happy and proud.
“It means a lot not only for me, for the team, for the club and for the fans. Rangers are back to where they belong in the Champions League but we can also see that it is another level than the Europa League.
“We have experience, the core of the team has three or four years together so we have a lot of experience. This is another level but we have confidence and we will see what is going to happen.”
With a strong Scottish Premiership victory against Hearts on Saturday, Barisic says the squad are in good spirits heading into this tie.
He continued: “We started very well after internationals with our win against Hearts which gave us a lot of confidence and the atmosphere is very good.
“After Hearts, we prepared for Liverpool, we know it will be a very tough game. Liverpool are a top team, they have a top squad so we all expect a hard game but I think we can manage that.”
