Barisic: Three Points Most Important

BORNA Barisic insists three points were the most important thing as Rangers defeated Hearts in the Scottish Premiership this evening.

The left-back, who was today named in the Croatia squad for the upcoming World Cup, provided the assist for Malik Tillman’s second-half goal in the 1-0 victory at Ibrox.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “As I said before the game the most important thing was the three points and we managed to do that. It was not the prettiest football from us but in this situation the most important thing was the points and we keep going.

“We knew Hearts are a good team, they play good football and we knew that the game would be hard but we got three points in the end and that is what keeps us going forward and I was happy that I helped the team too.”

On his call-up to the Croatia squad for the World Cup, Barisic thanked the club for their support in helping him earn his place at the tournament.

He continued: “I am very happy and very proud. It is one of my dreams come true that I am going to the World Cup to represent my country and my family.

"I want to say thank you to the club, my teammates, staff and everyone around Rangers because I will represent the club and they helped me a lot to achieve this.

“I have been in the national team a long time now and I am happy with that but we have a very good and deep squad and I knew that I needed to be good this season to go to the World Cup.”

Rangers will take on St Mirren on Saturday in the final game before the break in the Scottish Premiership. Looking ahead to that game Borna added: “It will be a tough game again, we need to recover quickly in two days and we will be very focused and very motivated to take three points and then after the World Cup we'll go again.”
