Beale Praises Mentality And Character

MANAGER Michael Beale praised the mentality and character of the squad following tonight’s 3-2 victory against Hibernian.

Rangers came from behind twice at Ibrox to take all three points in Beale’s first game in charge as the Scottish Premiership returned to action following the World Cup break.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, Beale said: “It is a bit of a mixed bag but I am delighted with the three points in the end. There has been a lot going on at the football club in the last five or six weeks and it’s not easy just to expect everything to go perfect in the first game.

“I thought we played well in the second-half and we turned the game around which was fantastic in terms of mentality and character of the group. They really took on board the information I gave them in the second-half and we dominated, we had big chances to go and increase the lead as well but I am delighted.”

Fashion Jr, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos were all on target for the Light Blues and the manager was happy with the quality of goals from his side.

He continued: “We got a goal from a set play which we asked them to even up after the poor first goal and then it is an excellent goal the winner. I am delighted for Alfredo and I am delighted for everybody involved in the club, the fans, all the staff and the players as well.

“The third goal was a lovely pass from Tavernier and Malik showed good feet and incredible balance to stay on his feet and Alfredo is in the right position. If we give him chances we know he will score so that is a real positive night for Alfredo.”

Next up for Rangers is Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday evening and Beale hopes to see stronger performances moving forward.

He added: “There's a lot of work to do, that's what I learned tonight. We had some players playing out of position tonight, we lost Leon King this morning to illness and we lost Antonio Colak right at the end of training yesterday.

“Connor Goldson has done two sessions, Ben Davies has done three and it is important that I don't rush them too early but it is great to have them back. Young Adam Devine has come in tonight with Borna Barisic being at the World Cup and I thought he was fantastic.

“For a young boy coming in like that having not played much this season I am absolutely delighted. Opportunity comes to others but I think when everyone is fit and available you will see stronger performances and I know I've got a lot of work to do.”
