March will mark the sixth anniversary of many of the current board members and investors arriving at Rangers, and since then, there has been significant growth off, and in recent seasons, on the park.
That growth was challenged this year by the Covid-19 pandemic, and all the financial implications that has had for the football club.
That said, Mr Bennett is remaining upbeat about the continued progression of the club despite the obvious ongoing challenges.
In an address to shareholders and supporters at this morning’s AGM, which was held virtually, he explained: "They [the shareholders] will have heard it from so many businesses, and they will have heard it from so many football clubs around the world, what a challenging year it has been for everybody.
"Covid came out of nowhere and has knocked everything, has rocked everything and it has been very, very challenging.
"And yet, I sit here in a positive frame of mind. I think shareholders will have heard from others - Stewart [Robertson] in particular about the four pillars we talk about internally, and our business model is built on those four pillars."
Mr Bennett then went on to discuss those ‘pillars’, and the growth in a number of those areas.
He continued: "Pillar number one is what I describe as the 'lifeblood' of the club, and that is the fans. That is there through season tickets and hospitality. By definition, you need that lifeblood coursing through the veins of the club.
"The pillar that has stood tallest, proudest and longest has been the fans.
"Pillar number two has been commercial, and it has been pretty well documented and well-known that hasn't always been smooth and we have painstakingly had to rebuild that.
"When I came in back in March 2015 when we all got in, we used to talk about the foundations, and where the foundations were.
"We knew pillar number one was there throughout - the fans - but the rest didn't have foundations, let alone pillars, and we have rebuilt that.
"Commercial is a huge part of that and you can see that in our numbers in the annual report.
"You can see in in-terms of the merchandise that has gone out and that fans love to wear.
"Pillar number three is European football. It is a privilege to sit here today addressing our fans, and it is a privilege to have been in Poland. I was very fortunate to be in Poland to witness a crowning achievement.
"It's an achievement no other Scottish club has ever achieved in the group stages of a European tournament - that points tally.
"It is extraordinary and every performance has been extraordinary and terrific. I think what you are seeing there is a return on investment.
"People see the investment has gone in and continues to go in by this board and its fellow shareholders and investors. There is a return in investment on the pitch you are seeing right there in European football.
"It is also a financial return and a clear financial return to the club. Shareholders will have seen the number north of £20million from our achievements last season.
"Clearly this season is hit by Covid and playing behind closed-doors. That is a major hit to the profit and loss accounts of the business.
"But on the pitch, what a return on investment. I think it is clear for all to see the progression on the pitch in European football.
"There has been clear year-on-year improvement, and again, it has been crowned by that achievement the other day in Poland. It's outstanding.
"The fourth pillar is not yet standing, but it is being built painstakingly, led by Ross Wilson and his team and that is, of course, player trading.
"It is called trading as it is purchasing and selling. The second bit is integral to our model as well.
"Many people have actually commented on that round the annual report - it is quite clear that is the fourth pillar.
"It is being built - if you look at our ‘monetisable’ assets, if you put it that way, in-terms of the players, it is certainly a lot higher a value.
"There have been numbers thrown around, but I can tell you this - I don't think anyone would dispute that it is an awful lot higher than what we are carrying in our balance sheet.
"One thing is clear - you could describe them as ‘monetisable’ assets, but you don't want that to translate into selling them at values that don’t reflect their full and clear value.
"You have seen that last year when we have said no to bids for our players. It has to reflect our valuation and if that is the case, we will have a decision to make.
"So while player trading is the very important fourth pillar of our business model, what we have not got ourselves into a position is where we have to sell to validate the model.
"Yes, it is right to say there has been deficit funding as we have gone on, but we are very, very fortunate we have loyal supporters, and we also have very loyal investors.
"That has been a very deliberate strategy in a sense to front-load the investment to make sure we are not in a position to take some bid that undervalues our players.
"You saw that last year - we will not accept that and the model doesn't rely on that fore-selling."
