The manager was addressing shareholders as part of the virtual 2020 Annual General Meeting.
He spoke about the work behind the scenes during the Coronavirus pandemic, and thanked the fans, shareholders and the board of directors for their continued support.
Gerrard said: “It is an absolute privilege to be in my third year as manager of this football club, I really understand the importance and the responsibility that comes with it and myself and my staff are really looking forward to a bright future.
“It was a very strange finish to the season due to Covid-19, there was a lot of frustration at the time but it was also a time to reflect and analyse where we were as a group.
“A lot of hard work that went in during that time to think about answers and areas where we could improve to try and get the club back to where it belongs as quick as we can.
“I was very grateful to sign a new deal here until 2024 and the idea was to continue to move the club forward and to try and build something special for the team.
“This club comes with an expectation and a pressure to deliver trophies and we feel as if we are putting the right things in place to try and get closer towards that.”
With Rangers topping their UEFA Europa League group with the highest points total ever for a Scottish club, Gerrard looked back on the European journey.
He continued: “I think the key achievements so far have certainly been our runs in Europe, obviously qualifying for Europe in season one and getting to the group stages.
“We built on that into the second year going to the last 16 which was a fantastic achievement and big progress for the team.
“That has brought a lot of confidence and belief and hopefully we can go one better this season.
“There's big games coming thick and fast but it is a really exciting time in terms of Europe.
“I think we have had a really strong start to this season, there's still a lot of work to do, but the players have done exceptionally well.
“There's a belief about them and we are obviously winning a lot of games and keeping clean sheets but we realise it is not a time to get too carried away there's a lot of hard work to do and a lot of hurdles to get over.
“We want to do everything we can and keep working hard and pushing this team as hard as we can to bring success as quick as we can.”
With a host of new signings over the summer – Gerrard praised the work behind the scenes to identify and secure their signing targets.
He explained: “We made key signings at important times. My relationship with Ross is very strong, a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes with myself, Ross, the recruitment, the scouts and also the management team to identify key signings that can make the group stronger.
“We also moved some people on at the right time as well so it is an ongoing process to keep trying to make the team and the squad as competitive and as strong as it can be.
“There's no doubt that we are in a much better place now than when I first came in the door and this idea is to keep trying to improve the small margins and the small details to make the group a successful group.
“A lot of work that has gone in from top to bottom at the club. I think it is important that we are one.
“We are all pulling in the same direction and everyone wants success here so everyone has got to do their role to the best of their ability but I think the relationships are very strong.
“Myself, the board, Ross, all the shareholders, sponsors, we are all on the same page and we are all desperate and craving success.
“We are in a good place, we are moving forward and there's been progress but that is not enough at a club like this the important thing and the hardest bit is the last bit.
“It is a very exciting time to be a part of this club and we want to keep pushing every single person involved at Rangers to play their part to be successful.”
