Borna Barisic Signs New Gers Contract

RANGERS are delighted to confirm Croatian full back Borna Barisic has signed a new contract at the club.

Barisic, a firm favourite with the Gers fans, has extended his stay at the club until summer 2024.

The 27-year-old joined the club in 2018 on a four year contract after starring and scoring for NK Osijek against the Light Blues in a UEFA Europa League qualifier.

Borna has played 52 times for Rangers already in his career, scoring twice in spectacular fashion this season from free kicks.

He has been in scintillating form this season, having notched 7 goal assists from 18 apperances in the Scottish Premiership and 5 assists from 9 matches in the UEFA Europa League.

Borna is the first choice at left back for his country having been capped 12 times, scoring one goal.

Speaking of his delight at signing his new contract, Barisic said: “I want to thank our Sporting Director Ross Wilson and everyone on the board at Rangers Football Club.

“I would also like to thank the staff I work with every day, our manager Steven Gerrard and my teamates, who have helped me get to this point.

“Most importantly I would like to thank the fans who always support me and that is for sure one of the reasons why I have signed the new contract and why I feel like I am with my family here at Rangers

Gers boss Steven Gerrard said: “I’m delighted that Borna has committed his future to Rangers.

“He has the support of the fans because of his performances on the pitch and we hope that continues for a long time at Rangers.”

Rangers Sporting Director Ross Wilson said: “We are all delighted to have agreed this contract extension with Borna.

“He loves playing for Rangers and it’s a pleasure to see the professionalism that he displays every day with Steven and the coaching staff on the training pitch and around the training centre.”
