The B Team assistant coach sat down exclusively with RangersTV to discuss the young Gers first away fixture since July.
Gilmour reflected on the Light Blues’ winning performance on Tuesday night where they collected another three points against Stirling Uni in the Lowland League.
He said: “We look back on the match with positivity. “There was a lot of good play throughout the game, we looked it back after analysis and the players had a good discussion about it.
"Overall, looking back it was a pleasing performance coming off the back of five very good goals and a clean sheet.
“If you look at the game from kick-off, in terms of how they passed the ball and the movement that led up to the goals was a piece of quality.”
The B Team boss emphasised how their aim to mirror the first team’s style of play is benefitting the squad's performance on the pitch.
He added: “It’s about trying to get the players used to as many games as they can along with a busy week of training.
“Coming into this league format and preparing for the next stage at first-team level comes with games coming fast and with real competition. Overall from where we started to where we are at just now, it has been pretty pleasing when these games come around."
Looking ahead to the weekend, it's another quick turnaround for the B Team as they prepare to face Edinburgh University at East Peffermill in their first away fixture in five matches.
Brian continued: “I think it will be another tough test that we will need to get ready for come Saturday and a change of scenery will change it up. The home games have been terrific for us but it will be nice to go and have that different atmosphere.”
