Gerrard Excited To Pick His Side To Face Ross County

STEVEN GERRARD says he is ‘excited’ to pick his team for this weekend as Rangers prepare for a trip to Dingwall on Sunday.

The manager was talking to the media this morning ahead of the Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County.

He said: “I am excited about picking a team for the weekend, I think it is a really interesting game for us going up to Dingwall.

"It is a game we are looking forward to and my job is to try to pick the right team selection and that is what we will do. I will pick the players that are in form that I think can do the job up there - it is as simple as that.

“The game [against Alashkert] is done, we won the game 1-0 and we need to park that up now and really focus on a tough league game away at Ross County so it is all about preparation and getting the boys in the right place for that.”

The manager provided an update on Ryan Jack, Nnamdi Ofoborh and Fashion Sakala who are all sidelined at the moment.

He continued: “Ryan Jack is progressing well, he is getting closer and closer but obviously we have to be patient with him. He has missed a lot of football but he is one that we are really looking forward to having back.

“Ryan is a standard setter who we have missed certainly this season so we are looking forward to having him back.

“Nnamdi has got further tests next week so we are hoping for some good news but he has been around the group, he has settled in well. We just need to try and get him back in a safe way and be patient as well.

“Sakala has got a bit of a niggle in his groin, I think he is paying for myself and the staff pushing him a little bit too quickly and not getting a full pre-season. I think part of that niggle is on me as well so that is a frustrating one but what we don't want to do is make it worse so hopefully he won't be too far away as well.”
