Brian Gilmour Pleased With Brechin Performance

RANGERS B team coach Brian Gilmour was pleased with the performance from the squad this evening as they beat Brechin City 3-1 at the training centre.

Three goals in the first-half sealed the victory for the Gers, and Gilmour praised the intensity from the players from the first whistle.

Speaking to RangersTV after the game he said: “I was pleased with the first-half performance in particular in terms of the things we were asking for both with and without the ball

“I thought we approached the game well in the first-half. There was some good stuff in there and we got some good goals and some good finishes so we are pleased overall with the performance.

“Intensity is a big thing that we speak about as well we try and get that from the first minute to the last minute.

“I think second half as well the game lost a little bit of zip and intensity. Obviously it is disappointing to lose the goal as well and there were some wee things we could've tidied up but overall it is another pleasing performance.”

Gilmour says the aim is to keep making progress going forward, as the B Team prepare for a busy period with the Glasgow Cup back underway.

He continued: “There's always the opportunity to go and play and when you go and make some substitutions as well sometimes the shape can come a wee bit loose.

“That is just natural but that is the working progress for us is to continue working in training every day so hopefully if we can make some small gains moving forward that's the priority.

“Looking forward we play Queen's Park in the Glasgow Cup and I think we have got three games on the bounce in that so that brings a different perspective for the players as well and a different challenge.

“It will be similar to the challenge we were playing tonight but it being the cup competition as well it gives it that little bit of spice and that edge on it trying to move forward in that competition as well.”
