Brianna Westrup: We Managed The Game Well

BRIANNA WESTRUP praised the way Rangers managed this evening’s game against Hibernian as they came away from Penicuik with all three points.

The California-born defender netted her first goal for Gers to round off the scoring in the 3-0 victory.

Speaking to RangersTV, she said: “I think we managed the game better at times than we have in the past.

“Carly came up huge for us on two set pieces and we got ahead and it was just about not playing into where they wanted us too.

“We got into a bit of trouble at the end of the first-half but at half-time we tried to talk about it. It wasn’t our best football but at the end of the day we got the three points.

“It is hugely important we can adapt, it is something we are still learning as a team. We want to play really pretty football, we want to use our midifielders and we want to get them on the ball but a couple of variables like the surface of the pitch and how Hibs were setting up it just wasn’t on for us to do that today.

“We had to adapt maybe play it long when it wasn’t on but be safe and secure to keep a clean sheet.

“We will always take a clean sheet that is one thing we preach as a back line and we take a lot of pride in so it is always good to come away from these games with a clean sheet because Hibs are a quality side and they have dangerous threats.”

On her first goal for the club, Westrup added: “I actually cannot believe it went in. I was just making a run and just tried to get something on it and thankfully it curled into the far corner. Sam put a great ball in picked her head up and found me and I kind of peeled off and I am just happy it went in.”
