The 23-year-old midfielder was born and raised in California and her parents flew over 11 hours to witness her goal propel the Light Blues to a Sky Sports Cup final victory over Hibernian.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, Lafaix commented: "I'm completely proud and happy. I had my parents there surrounded by a great team.
"We knew it was going to be a hard one and we haven't gotten three points from them in the league yet.
"We knew it was up to us and we've been preparing this entire week, working up to this, and we knew we had to focus on ourselves.
"I think it was a great reflection of our hard work.
"I knew Rangers were a group that had the winning mentality and we were able to perform that way."
Lafaix's goal sparked a manic couple of minutes to open the second half which effectively killed the game as a contest.
Latching onto Brogan Hay's hopeful pass, she dispatched a sumptuous first-time volley on her left side beyond the advancing Erin Clachers in the Hibs goal.
She added: "I was able to get on the ball in the second phase of the free-kick. Brogan hit a great ball, chipped the entire backline, and I was just happy to get first to it.
"It was super important the way we came out in the second half.
"We were able to get two back-to-back goals and it set the tone. We flew through the second half.
"[The victory] is going to give us a lot of confidence. I'm not shocked at all that we were able to perform that way today, but it's definitely relieving to know that we're capable and continuing on this high."
