Jo Potter’s side got their hands on the first piece of silverware on offer this season as Hibernian were put to the sword in a resounding 5-0 triumph at Fir Park.
The 27-year-old was on the scoresheet against the Edinburgh outfit in the 2022/23 final and she continued her impressive form infront of goal with the fourth in Saturday’s victory.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the win, Howat commented: “It needs to kick us on now. We have one trophy in the bag and we know this feeling.
“We’re still in the other two competitions, so it’s going to be a really exciting end to the season.
“It says a lot for the rest of the season and puts a real stamp on it.
“We know that’s our levels; when we turn up we can play unbelievably well.
“We hadn't beaten [Hibs] this season, so to do it in that fashion is brilliant.
“My goal? It was quite similar [to my strike in the final in 2022]. It just popped up and my legs were gone, so I just thought ‘touch and hit’.
“The pitch being nice and slick took it into the corner. What a feeling.”
The success marked a third successive triumph in the Sky Sports Cup for the Light Blues.
Howat says the feeling at full-time was just as sweet as three years ago at Tynecastle and believes Rangers’ superior experience on the big stage was a defining factor.
She added: “Nothing beats the feeling of winning a trophy, especially at this club.
“And to do it in the fashion and style that we did is what deserve.
“It took everyone, and the girls coming off the bench too. Our experience shone through.
“We’ve been in those situations before; we’ve found ways to win in the past and we done so again.”
Jo Potter's side are back at Ibrox this Sunday afternoon as they host Hearts in SWPL action.
