Leanne Crichton’s side were in fine form in a dominant 3-0 display at New Douglas Park, sending them into the international break on a high in what was their fourth success in the fixture overall this season.
The 24-year-old joined the Gers in the summer of 2024 and she spoke to RangersTV at full time after reaching the milestone, “Someone actually told me that just before walking out on the pitch.
“I think it makes tonight that bit more special. It is always an honour representing Rangers, since I have been here I have been having so much fun.
“It has been great and I am just happy to get 50 appearances.
“A 3-0 win in an Old Firm I think that explains it in itself, we pride ourselves on playing at a certain standard and our performance reflected that quite well.”
The Gers set the tone for the game with a controlled opening 45 minutes, racing into a two-goal advantage at the break before sealing the deal with a third right at the end. Lafaix revealed what it is about the derby that sees the team rise to the occasion in a matchup they boast an impressive record in of late.
She continued: “That first half reflected what we worked on this week. I think us girls we really wanted to focus on ourselves and our strengths and kind of trying to capitalise on Celtic's weaknesses.
“Starting the first half that well and going into half time two up we knew exactly what we needed to do to finish the game off strong.
“I think it is such an exciting fixture to come out and represent Rangers especially since it has been quite consistent recently, it has been really fun to be a part of.”
Katie Wilkinson was the difference maker with a derby day hat-trick in Hamilton, as the French-American spoke of lining up alongside the English forward with the Gers now signing off for the break in fine fashion and not back on the pitch until April 24 when they host Hearts.
She added: “There's so many players on this team that come out and that play so well under pressure.
“Wilko was that player tonight and to get a hat-trick in an Old Firm is such an accomplishment.
“Whatever we can do to help out those players and set them up for success is always nice to see when they can reap the rewards.
“It is exciting being a part of a squad that has so many players going away for international.
“We obviously want them to represent the club well but also stay healthy so that they come back with how difficult the schedule is in the split.
“To be in this position that we are today going into the international break is a great feeling for all of us.”
