The-19-year-old, who is currently on loan at Partick Thistle, signed a new contract with Rangers in the summer and is relishing the chance to play competitive football week in, week out with the Jags.
Cammy enjoyed a fantastic season with the Academy last term, captaining the Reserves to league glory, and he was happy to take fans’ questions at the Hummel Training Centre recently.
Here are the highlights of his Rangers Youth Development Company Q&A session…
Q – Kimmie – What do you look to take from your loan deal at Partick Thistle?
A – A different understanding of men’s football and to learn more about myself, how I handle myself under pressure and playing in big games will help my development.
Q – Who do you look up to in the Rangers first team?
A – Scott Arfield – he has had a great career and is so professional. He is a big help to the younger guys coming up. He handles himself so well off the pitch and that’s what I want to take into my career, I want young players to look up to me in the same way in time Steven Davis as well. He has really helped support and encourage me too.
Q – Megan – Who is your favourite player?
A – Zidane and Kaka – both for different reasons. Zidane made the game look so simple, Kaka was really humble even though he was one of the best in the world. He is the model professional, he is a Christian like me and that has encouraged me to follow in his footsteps.
Q – And your best mate(s) out of the squad?
A – Lewis Mayo and Danny Finlayson – I have known them for so many years and played alongside them.
Q – Jimmy – how long have you been with club?
A – I have been at Rangers for 8 years now. I moved from Canada when I was 11 but it is an easy football environment to settle in to.
Q – What advice would you give to help young players at the club to progress?
A – Don’t give up. Even when things seem tough, keep pushing on and ask questions. Listen to what your coaches say, they have been in your situation and it will help you in the future. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and be confident in yourself.
