The Light Blues produced an impressive second half display with all three goals coming in the final 15 minutes of the game as they booked their place in the final at Hampden Park for the third year running.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game the head coach was delighted with his team’s display under the lights at Ibrox.
He said: “I am really pleased, to get the performance firstly, because we spoke about it a lot, when you come to a cup game especially everyone gravitates towards that result, but again in this job in terms of being a youth development coach we are looking for the performances from the individuals and the team.
“So especially in the second half and towards the end of the first half as well that was really pleasing, and now the boys have set themselves up for that showcase event which they managed to go and win last year and the boys are buzzing to try and hopefully do that again.”
Campbell was happy with how his side persisted and continued to pile on the pressure throughout before finally making the breakthrough on the night with just under 15 minutes to play.
He continued: “We speak a lot about wow moments, and creating them within the team, whether defenders stepping into play or midfielders like you seen Findlay today.
“Having a shot from distance with real quality so to go and combine that and the boys see what they work on at the training ground come off is brilliant for them, so it was a really pleasing day.”
The coach was full of praise for midfielder Findlay Curtis after his strike put his side ahead with a goal worthy of winning any cup tie.
He added: “Kristian Webster takes the ball down really well and when he could easily have headed it and cleared his lines he takes it down, steps into midfield and plays a good pass and from there we have some nice individual moments which then go and lead to Findlay having the shot and it was a brilliant strike, so I am really pleased for him.”
The Gers have yet to concede a goal in the competition in four outings and Campbell was happy with the display of his backline for keeping the Accies at bay throughout the match.
He said: “We work a lot on defending in different situations and sometimes when we concede a goal it is not down to defending a traditional piece in terms of defending your box.
“Sometimes it is a turn over from building and everything else, we have got to appreciate the moments as well, so if you go and give the boys stats we have to got to go and celebrate the really positive ones, so the number of clean sheets in the cup so far has been brilliant.”
