The midfielder was delighted to get on the scoresheet as Rangers continued their strong start to the season with a 5-0 victory over Dundee United at Broadwood.
After a difficult start to her Rangers career with injury, Cavanagh dedicated her celebration to the other squad members currently in rehab who watched on from the stand.
Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, she said: “I am buzzing, it has not been the best of starts for me coming to the club, I got injured but I have been working hard in rehab.
“A bit of my celebration was for the girls who have been in rehab with me, they've been working so hard and I don't think people actually see the work that they put in so that was a wee shout out to them to keep working hard and that their time will come and they will be on the pitch joining us.
“I still have a lot of learning to do positionally, but that will come. My teammates will help me and the coaches will help me but for a starting point it is a good start and hopefully I can keep building from there.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance this afternoon, Cavanagh thought Rangers dominated the 90 minutes at Broadwood.
She continued: “I thought we dominated the game from start to finish, especially going forward and attacking. We had so many chances and we just have to take these chances a bit more but we scored five goals and it was a really good team performance. Everyone worked hard for each other.
“It is always a lot easier when you score early in a game. It kind of calms nerves but we are a team that if we don't score early we will just keep working hard and the rewards will come.
“We've got centre-backs scoring, we've got strikers scoring and midfielders so everyone is getting on the scoresheet. Everyone is an option going forward and it is good to see that it is not just put on our strikers and our midfielders that it is spread through everyone and it is a credit to the team.”
Looking ahead to next weekend’s Sky Sports Cup semi-final against Spartans, Cavanagh continued: “It should be good, I am looking forward to that . We know it will be a tough game as we just played Spartans in the league but again we will have a gameplan and we will just keep focusing on ourselves and working hard and hopefully the goals will come.”
