Charlie Devlin Delighted To Score First Gers Hatrick

CHARLIE DEVLIN was delighted to score her first Rangers hat-trick as the Light Blues ran out rampant 10-2 winners over Montrose this afternoon.

The Gers started fast and took the lead inside two minutes before the English midfielder found the target for the first time at the club before two further strikes from herself were to follow.

Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the game, she said: “I am really happy to get my first goal and happy to get a hat-trick as well.

“I am quite surprised I mean I could have got more but I am just happy that I helped the team win.

“All week Jo had us playing with freedom, like no stress just letting us play and be creative and it was amazing.

“We had a lot of good training sessions coming up to this week and it showed in the performance today.”

The Gers lined up in a slightly altered four at the back system with two number 10’s as the 26-year-old spoke about lining up in the formation and how they fared in it as a team.

She continued: “It is just much more fluid for me and Camille.

“Two 10's we get sort of a free role but obviously out of possession it is quite hard work but we were willing to do whatever needs to be done and if Jo wants us to play that we will try play it as best as we can.

“It is easy to let your foot get off the gas, even though we came in I think it was 6-0 we were definitely not going to stop and keep going.

“Obviously with me as well to get a hat-trick is amazing.”

The player on loan from Birmingham says the team will look to improve on the two goals they did concede in the victory but says they must continue to build in the games to come, as their attention turns to a Sky Sports Cup quarter-final next Saturday night.

She added: “I think it was a little bit sloppy from us.

“Maybe just switching off for the set piece, I don't believe it was a free kick but the ref has made the decision.

“We are just happy that we got good goals, different goalscorers, Ini got her first goal, Jane coming in with the two.

“It is all happy we just need to minimise those small mistakes.

“We have come and we have performed today but it is only one performance.

“These performances don't win leagues it is the tough ones away and we have just got to keep grinding out and sticking to the game plan that Jo sets us."
