Charlie Lindsay: Learning from Experienced Opposition is Key

CHARLIE Lindsay believes that competing against a Championship side is a massive learning curve for the young Gers.

The youngsters will take key moments of development after competing against Ayr United this evening in their cup tie.

The Light Blue spoke exclusively to RangersTV after tonight’s 3-0 defeat against the Honest Men in the SPFL Trust Trophy.

The youngster outlined that playing against a more experienced team is key for the squad’s further development. He said: “It was tough match tonight, stepping up playing against a Championship side.

“The boys battled well throughout the 90 minutes; I don’t think that the score line reflects the game, I think that it was a pretty even match and we conceded some sloppy goals, but it was a great learning curve for all the boys.

“It was a challenge playing against stronger and a more physical side and that gave us a tougher test, I think the boys stood up to it well.

“It’s a team game and we all work together but it was disappointing not to get the win.

Lindsay followed up by adding that it was a great experience for the younger boys who managed to play tonight as they team look ahead to other competitions they have coming up. He added: “We’ve got a really young squad and it’s a great test to be put up against a good Championship side so early is pivotal for us"

“We’ve stood up to the competition well, and we’ve got a variety of games coming up as well to look forward to with the rest of the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League, so it’s exciting to be a part of. “
