The 26-year-old popped up with the breakthrough goal seven minutes from time, nodding home from Rachel Rowe’s pinpoint corner delivery.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, the Scotland international commented: “I’m overjoyed and lost for words, to be honest. The girls deserve it and, yeah, we’re looking forward to the final now.
“I thought we were dominant throughout the whole game. There were obviously limited chances within the game, but we never felt their pressure at any point.
“We were very patient and that resulted in the two goals coming.
“We have a lot of games coming up, so to get this one under our belt, and get a big win, will give us a lot of confidence.
“But we haven’t won anything yet, and our next focus is on Wednesday against Hearts.”
Cornet’s decisive header, which was later supplemented by Kirsty Howat’s delightful lob minutes later, underlined the importance of dead ball situations for Jo Potter’s side.
The goal capped off a terrific individual display on both sides of the ball from the midfielder, joined in the engine room by another immense showing from 19-year-old Liv McLoughlin.
She added: “We identified that set-pieces are something that we could count on, and we’ve went and done that.
“My main focus was on attacking the ball and, thankfully, it’s went in the back of the net.
“It’s sometimes what games can come down to. That’s what has happened today and, once we got that one-goal lead, we’ve went on and pushed for a second.
“Liv McLoughlin? She’s amazing. I love her to bits and you saw today how much energy she brings to the team.
“She gives 110 per cent week in, week out, and we love playing together – although I hope she feels the same!”
