Chelsea Cornet: We Rose To The Challenge

CHELSEA CORNET believes Rangers ‘rose to the challenge’ as they beat Hearts 5-0 at the Oriam in Edinburgh this afternoon.

The midfielder was on the scoresheet with a terrific strike as Malky Thomson’s side continued their unbeaten start to the Park’s Motor Group SWPL.

Speaking to RangersTV after the match, she said: “We are really pleased to get the win and the three points on the board, obviously that is the main thing we are aiming to do.

“We knew the last time we played Hearts it was really hard, they stayed really compact and were really organised so we knew what we were going to be faced with.

“All week in training we worked on that and I think it showed today especially in the first-half, we got great switches of play and our performance was really top. In the second-half, I felt that they changed and were sitting in a bit which made it difficult but we still rose to the challenge and came away with the win.

“It was great to get on the scoresheet, the three points for the team is the main thing but it is always good to get on there.”

Later in the game, the midfielder slotted in at right-back, a role she has played on a number of occasions this season and feels it is important players are versatile.

She continued: “I am just happy to get in the team, the competition within the team is amazing so to start and play full 90 minutes is great.

“For them to be able to utilise me there too is really good, I think that is key, you need to be versatile and I think we have got that in abundance.

“We have got it all over the pitch and the players are more than happy to do that for the team and that's great.”
