Clare Gemmell: Three Points The Important Thing

RANGERS captain Clare Gemmell says no game will easy this season as they picked up three points away to Forfar Farmington this afternoon.

With a 2-1 lead at half-time, Malky Thomson’s side battled in the second half to increase their advantage but it didn’t come until Gemmell netted a third in injury time.

Speaking after the game, the Gers skipper said the most important thing was getting the three points.

“I think we made it difficult for ourselves but credit to Forfar, they sat in and were really physical which we expected,” she said.

“Thankfully we managed to win the game and we have got the three points.

“There was space all over the pitch and we knew that but I just don’t think we were using it properly. I think we came into the game more in the second half.

“They were physical so we had to be alert. We set up well but as you said we still had to try and push to get that goal.”

Gemmell netted her first goal of the season in stoppage time. She continued: “I saw Daina running in and I was through on goal.

"I saw the keeper coming out and I just thought chip it over her - I’m just glad it went in!

“Every game is important, I don’t think you can expect any game to be easy so every three points is important and it’s another three points on the board.”
