The Gers gaffer takes his side to Hampden tomorrow to face Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup final.
The game comes less than 72 hours after a famous win over Real Betis in Spain to top the Europa League, but Clement knows from personal experience you can’t dwell on past glories.
He said: “There is always excitement to play in finals and win trophies, there is something extra.
“We had an exciting evening on Thursday and I was pleased we rewrote history by winning for the first time in Spain. It was an exceptional thing they did.
“I have had good and bad experiences after a historical evening, if your mindset isn’t right you can lose in a stupid way.
“At Brugge we beat Milan with all the top players like Paolo Maldini, Andriy Shevchenko and Andrea Pirlo and we felt like Kings of the World.
“Three days later we lost to the smallest team in Belgium and all the positivity was gone and I spoke to the players about that but they are ready for tomorrow.
“We can write more history and we have to grab that with both hands and feet.
“The boys are focused, we have a good dynamic in the club. There is a different vibe from two months ago.
“We have to work hard and the story can’t always be about getting better and we will lose games.
“I know if we do the right things together success will come. I know what to do to get success.
“The players are focused every day, game and meeting. Is it a guarantee of success? Not every time otherwise Manchester City would be champions every year.
“As long as they are doing things then I am convinced we can have a good season.”
Clement would love to bring the trophy back to Ibrox and he believes it will make some people change their view on his team.
He added: “It’s not about me, it is about the club and players. They deserve it.
“Winning trophies gets appreciation from outside and changes perceptions. I have read bad things about the players in the last few months and that can all change with this game.”
Jose Cifuentes will miss the match at Hampden due to injury, but Todd Cantwell and Scott Wright are expected to be available.
Dujon Sterling impressed in Spain coming off the bench and Clement praised the English star.
He said: “Dujon is very versatile. He is not only a good defender he has good feet, physicality and a good shot.
“With the problems we have, I was looking for solutions as I don’t stick to problems, I need to find solutions and sometimes look out of the box.
“You need to train the player first and then see it on the field and if it isn’t a success it is my mistake.
“Todd trained so there is a big chance he is there tomorrow.
“Cifuentes is injured bit we don’t know how long for, so we need to look into that.
“Scott Wright is back and Leon King is as well, plus the guys who weren’t in the European squad.”
