The Gers boss says it has been an ‘intense’ week for the players as he gears them up for the second-half of the season.
Sitting down with RangersTV for an interview in the final days in La Manga, Clement said: “It has been really good, it was really intense, we had a lot of tough training, so the players’ legs are really full.
“I wanted to play them in those circumstances with really heavy legs in the game against Hertha so that was interesting to see the players who can cope with that and who is having more difficulty.
“It has been really interesting and besides all the training there have also been the individual talks we could do every evening and it has been good to get to know the players even better than before and to grow the story together.
“We haven’t had a moment like that in the last few months because every three days we have had a game. We want to get them to a better physical level than they were before, and we are going to need that in the next couple of months to raise our level as a team.”
The manager has been happy with how the squad have bonded off the pitch, with January signing Fabio Silva joining the squad in Spain for the camp.
He continued: “It is good because all the team is helping Fabio in a good way, I told him from before it was a good dressing room so I expected that from the dressing room to show it and it is the case, he is talking with everybody, everybody is involved with him it is really good.
“It is one group together and that has been our strength in the last couple of weeks and also in all the difficult circumstances.
“Everybody is ready for the team, and it is really clear in the minds of all the players so they had a lesson from the beginning of the season where it was less the case so they really understand that it is very important, and I will point it out also if along the way somebody forgets.”
On his first few months at the club, Clement reflected: “I love it here, I love the club, the passion from the fans and the people in the building.
“There are a lot of young ambitious people still learning but really motivated to learn and to become better. I also see a big difference from three months ago in a lot of departments, there is a huge potential in this club, and everybody is working really hard.”
