The Light Blues are in the midst of a busy schedule playing three games in seven days with tomorrow’s midweek clash against Aberdeen next on their agenda.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the match the manager feels the coming months competing on three fronts can only be beneficial and will give several opportunities for his players.
He commented: “On continuing their form into the new month? Yes of course and we are happy about that, we want to stay in the three competitions as long as possible.
“We know we are the only team doing that in the next couple of months but I think it is a positive thing.
“A lot challenges, good games, give chances to the squad to prove themselves in every sense against a lot of opponents. It gives more chances for players to also play. That is a positive thing.”
The Belgian is looking forward to the battle that awaits as the Gers look to carry on their impressive domestic form as they welcome the Dons under the lights of Ibrox who will be led by newly appointed manager Neil Warnock.
He continued: “I have seen it is living a lot of life on the other side, in Aberdeen against Rangers apparently it is really something special.
“I know that, I have experienced it now with two games already and I saw also saw the third game at the beginning of the season.
“It is going to be a good battle, for me they are one of the three or four best teams in the league, in quality of squad.
“I am a bit surprised of the position they are in the league but there are a few reasons for that in my mind but I don't want to speak about that, I want to speak about Rangers.
“It is a team with a lot of quality and we know we need to be at our best to take the three points and that is the goal every time.”
The January manager of the month wants the team to continue focusing on themselves as they target a fifth straight win since returning from the winter break, as he spoke of picking up the award for the first time since taking charge in October.
He added: “We have the same mindset that and I also see that with the players. We are just busy with our own game, having respect for our opponents, knowing their qualities, trying to use their weaknesses and taking the points and playing good football and entertaining our fans.
“Keeping this really strong team mentality that is in the dressing room. That whoever is playing they are doing the same and the rest are really hungry to come off the bench and finish off the job. We continue with that, that is the only thing we will be doing.
“For me it is a collective award. It is good for the staff because of the good job that they did and also for the players.
“They worked really hard to get good results, so I see it in that way, it is not an individual prize it is more a collective prize. It means that the team is on the right way and that is the most important thing.”
