The striker was part of the side that ran out 3-1 winners over Kilmarnock on Saturday as they now ready themselves to face the team sitting in fourth place in the league table.
Speaking in the press conference ahead of the fixture, Colak feels the victory has added renewed confidence to the squad as they go in search of back-to-back wins in Edinburgh.
He said: “After a win it is more positive, we still know what we have to work hard for, it is not enough to have only a good first half, we have to perform for 90 minutes.
“We want to win every game and every half, this is what the manager demands from us, we are positive but we know what we have to do better.
“Now we have three important games until the international break and we want to win them all, then we go into the small break where we also can work on things and how we can finish the season better."
The striker was happy to get back out on the pitch again having made his first league start since January 8 in the 2-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice as he hopes for a run of games moving forward.
He continued: “When you are injured it is difficult to get back in the team, the boys have had a good run and played really well, I was working with the coaches and for myself to get back into the team because you have to deserve the shirt to be on the pitch.
“Every minute you get whether it is 10 or 90 minutes, I always want to start the game and be the main man up front, it was very important for me to be back but I know how hard it is to get back on the pitch in the first eleven.”
The Croatian knows he has had to adapt to the way manager Michael Beale wants to play but is confident he can get back to scoring goals on a regular basis after making a fast start to life in Scotland before his injury.
He added: “Now with new expectations and ideas of how the manager wants to play, I have to adapt but you always have to in football, it is not only with new people coming in but it every game and every situation in it.
“I want to be the best version of myself on the pitch, I want to perform on the best level that I can, this means what I do outside of scoring with assisting, running wise, and tactically to make it easier for everyone on the pitch.
“I am really confident I can get back scoring, there was a period where I was out and you have to fight back, I think through this you learn a lot of things for yourself and also working wise.
“Now with the new staff and the team and how we want to play, how things are getting better, with my quality that I bring individually I can go back on this scoring run and score a lot of goals.”
The 29-year-old hopes his weekend display has merited more gametime for the matches to come but knows there are certain demands put on all the players at the club to keep performing.
He said: “That is what the manager always expects from every player, he wants them to deserve the shirt and give everything on the pitch and to bring that out in every game and training session.
“Bring out the best performance and version of yourself, this is always what I demand from myself, to be out there, to play and get those minutes on the pitch.”
