The 18-year-old was restored to the starting lineup as the Light Blues looked to make it back-to-back victories, making an impact by scoring inside a minute before doubling his tally from the penalty spot inside the first half.
Speaking to RangersTV after his side’s victory, Young commented: “We’re delighted to get the three points, and then if you’re scoring six goals at the same time we’re delighted with that. It was a positive performance as well. That’s what we plan to do, start fast and put the opponent on the back foot.
“I just need to take [my performance] today and build on it and take it forward. It helps me believe in myself that little bit more, giving me that confidence to take it into the next game or training session.”
The Gers had to navigate gale-force winds across the 90 minutes, but it didn’t halt their attacking edge as they raced out to a 4-0 lead before the interval.
Young continued: “I thought we handled [the conditions] brilliantly. If we’re not able to play in any conditions then there’s something worrying, but everyone stuck to their job and done what we needed to do to get the three points.
“We went through a hard couple of weeks, but we’ve got back to winning ways and scoring goals, and doing what we do best.”
