In the Gers’ first SPWPL outing of 2026, they ran out 2-1 winners over Hibs at Broadwood thanks to first half strikes from Katie Wilkinson and May Cruft.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, the former Scotland international said: “It is an important victory, we could have controlled the game better I think in the second half and managed the game and made it a lot more comfortable than it felt towards the tail end.
“Ultimately today we were one, looking for the three points, second of all we wanted the performance levels to be at a level that we were comfortable with.
“We have spoken about momentum, where we have been in the league and week on week looking to try and build on that.
“Today was an opportunity to go and do that at home against a good team.
“I know a lot of people look at the red card in the first half and see that as a moment that changed the game but I actually felt that we had real good control in the first half.
“We had created an awful lot of chances and that is probably the frustration that we could have capitalised on those moments a bit earlier.
“Ultimately the timing of the goals in the first half I think gives us the foothold in the game that we need and certainly gives us a bit of calm at half time.
“Credit to Hibs and the performance levels that they showed in the second half to make it as difficult as they possibly could.
“We still created, we could have scored more but we see the game through and for me it was just so important that we got the win this afternoon.”
The Head Coach highlighted the timing of the two goals as being a key factor in their victory, with the top goalscorer in the right place at the right time and the 16-year-old putting in another impressive display in a big game once again.
She continued: “It was brilliant, I thought the chances that we created this afternoon were really like us, everything that we work on, daily.
“There is so much focus on the final third and the way that we want to go about our business.
“We should have capitalised a lot sooner, Wilko does excellently well and then May [Cruft], the footwork that she shows and the composure on the edge of the box which is what we ask from our midfielders to make sure they are there and that they lock the box and they sustain those attacks when the ball comes back out.
“That we are not forcing it in those types of moments, we know she is so predominantly left footed but she works it really well to get it back across and onto her right.
“It is a brilliant finish and the timing of those goals was really important just before half time and allows that bit of calm and composure and control in the game that we needed.”
Having cut the gap at the top to seven points on leaders Glasgow City, Crichton says her team are continuously striving for more having delivered a seventh win on the bounce in all competitions.
She added: “We are hungry for more, even there in terms of the debrief we want more from ourselves.
“We want to see these games out and be really on the front foot with how we go about it.
“Ultimately this afternoon when you look at the league table was about winning and making sure that we keep on the coattails of Glasgow City.
“Today was important because it was the next game, that focus now shifts. Glasgow City becomes the focus next week.
“It is another three points for us to really go and try keep up and set a marker and we'll look to try and do that.
“The group is in a really good place just now; it is something that we have not had an awful lot this season. The numbers in terms of the squad are really strong.
“We got Leah [Eddie] back on the pitch this afternoon as well which is player we have been without for huge spells this season.
“As his everybody probably served their time on the touchline so it is great to have the numbers, it allows training to be so competitive.
“Everybody is pushing one another to be better and ultimately that is what you need.
“If you are going to go and compete and you want to be there and in about it at the top of the table you need to be able to create that environment daily.”
