The Light Blues had to come from behind in the contest with first half goals from Charlie Lindsay and Connor Allan turning the match around in what was a tricky match underfoot for the players.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win McCallum was happy with how his side adjusted to the surroundings and praised the team from coming behind to win.
He said: “We are just looking at how we can try perform to the level that I think we can or adapt to situations where you need to play a little different.
“That is learning how to play in first team environments where it is not going to be football that necessarily wins you the game, but it is character and showing how to be a good team, in the different games when you can’t get the smooth control and dominate possession the way we would like to.
“Albeit in the second half the pitch did become more open because both teams were down to 10 men.
“I thought the guys showed a good balance of trying to control the game and not risk the ball too often, but risk it at the right time.
“We did create one or two good moments in the second half without putting it to bed, but I am quite pleased with how they adapted to the game.”
The head coach was happy with the belief his side showed to turn things around after they fell behind in the contest before ultimately go on to claim three points in what was their third win in a row.
He continued: “The guys are used to playing on an astroturf pitch where the ball runs smooth and truly, it wasn’t the case today but you have got to adapt.
“That is part of coming into environments that aren’t like that but it is the same for both teams, I am pleased with the way we managed to find a way to adapt to the situation.
“The players showing belief that they could get back into it, we scored an excellent first goal in terms of pressing down when we knew the goalkeeper was under pressure, good reading by Zak [Lovelace], and Charlie [Lindsay] has followed it in.
“To take the lead at half time, we don’t score a lot of goals from corners so it was good to see Connor [Allan] get himself on the end of that.”
McCallum has also praised the performance of Lindsay after the midfielder played his part in both goals producing a goal and an assist on the day.
He added: “Throughout the course of the season Charlie’s contributions goals and assists wise has been very good.
“Today we adapted his position in the second half to try a slightly different way because we were down to 10 men.
“Charlie had a strong performance today and he has contributed by assisting and scoring as well so I am pleased for him.”
