Steven Davis Delight At Poznan Win

STEVEN DAVIS was understandably delighted after Rangers made it two wins from two in the Europa League against Lech Poznan.

After opening with a super win away to Standard Liege last week, Gers defeated the Polish outfit 1-0 thanks to a super Alfredo Morelos header in the second half.

Davis had a fine night in the middle of the park, and told RangersTV afterwards: "We are delighted and it has been a great start to the group for us.

"A lot of people probably don't know an awful lot about [Poznan], but they have a lot of energy in their side, they cause you problems with the runners they have off the ball, so it was a difficult game - we knew that going into it after the analysis we did on them, so we were well prepared in that sense.

"But we are delighted - two wins from two and we can now turn our attention to Kilmarnock."

Morelos’ goal was his 21st in Europe for Rangers – matching the club’s all-time record in continental competition set by Ally McCoist.

On the Colombian’s efforts, Davis continued: "Incredible. The ball in once again from Borna - it was a great delivery - and another great header from Alfredo so it is an incredible feat for him to now be level with Coisty on European goals.

"That is no easy thing to do so I am delighted for him and once again, he turned up on a big night for us.

"Even in my time here, I think he has come on leaps and bounds. He is still relatively young and still has a lot of time for more growth in his game and that goal will do him the world of good for his confidence.

"Hopefully we'll have a fully-firing Alfredo from now on."
