Goals from the impressive Kemar Roofe (2), the relentless Alfredo Morelos and super sub Jermain Defoe secured all three points for the champions at Ibrox, with Davis again a standout performer in the middle of the park.
A red card issued to Celtic’s Callum McGregor after his tackle on Glen Kamara in the build-up to Roofe’s opening goal on 26 minutes handed the Light Blues an advantage and they made the most of it, producing a ruthless performance in the last Old Firm match of the 2020/21 season.
"I'm absolutely delighted,” said Davis. “After the disappointment of last week it was a good game for us because we know the importance of it.
"We turned up today and we got a really good performance. Probably if we were ultra-critical we were maybe a bit sloppy at times in the second half and giving possession away, but overall we are delighted."
After the frustration of losing to St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, Davis was pleased with his team’s desire to bounce back in the right way this afternoon.
The Northern Ireland legend continued: “That's the most important thing, there is going to be setbacks along the road and it is important that you bounce back straight away.
“We managed to do that today, even in the game obviously going one goal up and then conceding so early.
“The sending off changed the game a little bit, but overall I think we were excellent and thoroughly deserved the win.”
Davis praised his teammates Roofe and Morelos for the way they took their goals before Defoe added icing to the cake with a terrific finish in injury time.
He said: "Everybody knows for Kemar it has been a bit stop-start in terms of injuries and it can be very difficult to get your rhythm, but he has worked hard when he has been injured.
“Things fell for him today and he took his chances really well and was a nuisance throughout the game. So I am delighted for him and he's probably disappointed the season is coming to an end.
"I also thought Alfredo was excellent and he took his goal really well. He created it for himself as well, but even his general play throughout the game was causing them problems and he was holding the ball up for us.
“So we are delighted and it was a really strong performance from the boys. We are now looking forward to our remaining two games.
"After the disappointment of going out of the Scottish Cup, I think the most important thing was just to reset ourselves and try and finish the season as strongly as possible.
“We have still got aims we want to try and achieve and this was a big step in the right direction today.”
