Swedish international Helander netted moments before the break, following total dominance from The Gers. He then helped shut up shop alongside Goldson, while Alfredo Morelos added another two to brush Hearts aside.
The Jambos surprised everyone by leaving Uche Ikpeazu on the bench and starting with 37-year-old Steven MacLean, but after a caution he was sacrificed as early as the 40th minute for Ikpeazu – leaving the Gers defence to adapt.
Speaking to RangersTV Goldson said: “It means a lot, we knew what was at stake today after last year and we want to deliver this club silverware. So we have got to the cup final and we look forward to it.
“I feel like after five minutes we were comfortable and controlling the ball well in their half, we created a few little half chances.
“Both their strikers are experienced, both want to battle with you and I thought they both gave us a bit of a handful up there.
“Mclean at the start of the game was trying to be aggressive and stamp his authority but I thought we defended well and limited their chances and again we kept another clean sheet.”
Rangers now face a bumper schedule to round off 2019, they will face Celtic in the Betfred Cup Final on December 8.
Despite a final looming Goldson says the team’s focus can only be on their next challenge and that comes in the UEFA Europa League when Porto visit Ibrox on Thursday.
He continued: “We were give our all in the final but before that we have a lot of tough fixtures so we need to put this to the back of our minds until it comes.
“I think we played really well out there but at the same time we know they are a top side and even though we have had one good performance, we can’t go into that game thinking it will be the exact same again.
“We need to go into that game with confidence but at the same time with respect to them and try and stamp our authority on the game.”
